As an assistant you have to deal with targets all the time. Sometimes they are yours, sometimes they are your boss’s or your co-workers’. We want to give you a tool at hand to check whether the targets are realistic or not. This even makes project planning easier for you.
The tool we want to introduce to you is attributed to Peter Drucker’s “management by objectives” concept: SMART.
SMART is a mnemonic device. The formula gives criteria to guide the user in the setting of objectives, for example in project management, employee performance management and personal development.
